Neck & Back Pain

Spinal Stenosis:

Spinal stenosis is when the spinal cord in the neck is compressed, or when the spinal nerve roots in the lower back are compressed. Treatment can be both non-surgical and surgical.

LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS
With age, vertebrae may develop arthritis, discs can bulge, and ligaments can buckle. All of this can lead to lumbar spinal stenosis. Symptoms generally include leg pain, numbness, tingling and/or burning.

HOW CAN I TELL IF IT IS STENOSIS?
Symptoms from lumbar spine stenosis usually develop over time. The pain may be intermittent, and may worsen with activities that require bending. You may also feel relief from leaning forward.

DOES THE SEVERITY OF STENOSIS LEAD TO MORE SEVERE SYMPTOMS?
Not necessarily. Symptoms can be either much more or less severe than expected after looking at the imaging of the compression.
