Migraines are headaches that can come in all shapes and sizes. They are often accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and sound, and are preceded by some kind of trigger, such as certain foods, stress, and hormonal changes.
HOW ARE MIGRAINES DIAGNOSED?
Dr. Tariq will look at a combination of factors, such as medical history, family history, symptoms, and a physical and neurological examination.
HOW IS MEDICATION USED?
Medication can be used to help relieve the pain of a migraine, and different medications can be used to help prevent a migraine from happening in the first place.
HOW CAN I PREVENT MIGRAINES?
For more severe cases, preventive medications may be recommended. Patients who have four or more debilitating migraine attacks every month that each last more than 12 hours may need preventive medication. Often, patients who receive preventive migraine medication have gotten no relief from other pain-relief medications.
